Surrender of Indian Passport by erstwhile Citizens of India
(a) Under the Indian Citizenship Act, 1955, Indian citizens are NOT allowed to hold DUAL Citizenship. If a person had ever held Indian nationality (and Passport) and subsequently voluntarily obtained nationality/Passport of another country, he/she ceases to be an Indian national (as per Section 9 of Citizenship Act) and is required only to surrender his/her Indian Passport by filling online application https://mportal.passportindia.gov.in/mission/. The printed application form may be submitted to Embassy on all working days between 0900-1200 hrs. with a fee receipt of Euro 22. Renunciation of Indian nationality under Section 8 of Indian citizenship Act
This service is applicable only to Indian nationals/Indian passport holders and not for those who already hold Foreign/Estonian nationality/passport. The applicant has to apply online at https://indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in/Renounce. Once the citizenship renunciation certificate is issued, the applicant is to surrender his Indian passport as per above procedure.
